i recently made this ‘change of address’ card for a client (as a favour) he called me just before my holiday and said he was in a hurry, i said ‘ok, mail me the logos (not crappy jpegs) and i’ll call when i get back’ when i got back he had mailed the logos (crappy jpegs, of course) and so i decided to use the phone call and the crappy jpegs as the card design, basically just repeating how it went… i’ve already had a few calls from people who found it funny… if in doubt tell the truth…
interesting interview about the ‘theater poster awards’ (theaterafficheprijs) in the national press today: when asked whether awarding the prize to the same submission two years running was bad for their image, joost swarte (chairman of the jury) responded by saying that it was up to the theater institute to appoint a new jury, after all we (the same jury) have done it
for four years he said… i agree but not about the motive, the reason i believe the jury needs changing is because it doesn’t represent the scope of the entrants as it is now, to be honest awarding the same submission 2 years running is fine if they felt that it was the best work, that’s a jury’s privilege, i’m just not sure the jury is diverse enough to allow new work and unknown entrants to be given the same chance… we’ll see what happens
after spending years thinking up and creating advertising for other companies it was time to try it on my own company, so i recently placed a full page ad in dutch design magazine ‘credits’
ok, the pay-off was perhaps a little cryptic but it certainly hasn’t got people banging on the door with new business yet… despite the fact that it was a ‘nude’ special. oh well i guess it’s a question of ‘image building’ and being patient… how about that for a very understanding client?
