if you are not really familiar with the typically british phenomenon that is blackpool or have never heard of design agency why not associates (they were what you might call ‘hip’ back in the mid 90’s) then this may not mean very much to you at all: a gigantic (granite) typographical installation made to commemorate the culture and stars of the ‘working class’ seaside resort of blackpool, aptly dubbed the ‘comedy carpet’
it really is worth spending a bit of time looking around on the website… the process, sheer scale and certainly the finished result are all pretty astounding to my mind… enjoy

this is an adaptation of a post i wrote for ‘fontanel’ last week, i also still haven’t checked but this could well be the largest installation of it’s kind in the world, does anybody know?
